We’ve also added a section to help you select the right builder to simplify things even more. Step 1: Inspection First, decide where your pool will go. Many people opt for a flat surface to reduce excavation costs. Once you’ve chosen the location, the builder will complete a thorough site inspection. This helps them understand the terrain, requirements, and limitations. They’ll also check the structural, plumbing, and electrical requirements according to government guidelines. The builder will ask you about your budget, design preferences, and reasons for building the pool. It’s important to know your priorities but be open to suggestions and new ideas. They’ll organize all paperwork, including design requirements, budgets, the concrete-laying plan, and rough sketches. According to Local Council regulations, only a licensed engineer can draft the plan. Their name, company affiliation, and necessary ID proof should be stated in the contract. This time-consuming process can take 3 to 4 weeks. The builder must also present the drawings, plans, and permissions required by the Council neatly for approval.   Step 3: Excavation After approval, you can begin preparing the excavation area. We recommend hiring a surveyor to do this. They will mark the perimeter using wooden stakes with great care. The excavator uses earth-moving tools like a trencher or backhoe to dig the pool. They pay special attention to cutting precisely and straight according to the original design. If the terrain is rough or waterlogged, there may be extra requirements. Ask your builder about these during the site inspection to avoid unexpected costs. The excavation process usually takes no more than three days, depending on factors like weather, terrain, and accessibility. Afterward, they remove all the excavated materials from the site. Step 4: Steel Fixing After excavation, the next step is steel fixing. Fixers create a crisscross pattern of steel around the excavated space. This cage-like structure covers the steps, ledges, and other design features, improving the pool’s structural integrity and ensuring smooth concrete laying. Once the steel reinforcement is installed, the interior must be pre-plumbed. Plumbers install drainage, electrical, and lighting systems. They cap the pipes to prevent construction materials from damaging them. They also connect the pipes to the main water line and filter system, but the pipes are only used during the pool’s construction. The steel fixing process takes no more than two days. During this time, keep children and pets away from the pool, as the exposed steel can cause serious injuries. Step 5: Pouring Concrete The next step is pouring concrete of swimming pool construction process. There are two methods: shotcrete or concrete formwork. After the concrete shell is completely cured, workers remove all debris, twigs, or leaves. They then scrape off any rough or protruding sharp parts with a shovel. The pipes and drains can be made waterproof with a sealing agent. Tiles, ceramics, and pebble Crete are popular waterproofing choices. This is done before finishing the interior to ensure the pool is watertight. The adhesive is spread evenly over the cured concrete, then the waterproofing membrane is sprayed on. The surface is then polished with a trowel and left to dry for a couple of days. The pool surface is acid-washed to remove all adhesive residues before receiving a final polish. Step 7: Landscaping and Coping Next, you will need to install the waterline and coping tiles. If you’re new to these terms, here’s a quick explanation: Coping is the capping around the edge of the pool that creates a barrier between the concrete and the pool surface. Capping materials can be concrete, tiles, or stone. Any pool owner will tell you how important it is to install capping. It doesn’t have to be dull; choose a tile that enhances your pool’s aesthetics. Check Plumbing Lines It’s now time to install the equipment that will make your swimming experience even more enjoyable. Before that, technicians will check all plumbing pipes to ensure no damage occurred during construction.
